Hey everyone!
Our dear friend Lisa and her supportive fiancé Jonno has had an unimaginably tough four months. Anybody that has met this couple can vouch how beautiful and selfless they are. We can all agree how difficult it has been to watch them experience such tragedies.
Lisa could not and did not foresee any of the medical issues that came to be. Lisa attended all her specialist and medical appointments and nothing was picked up until her body crashed in hospital, and she was diagnosised with severe pulmonary hypertension (causing a chain of other health complications that spiralled out of control), and very nearly took her life.
Unfortunately, Lisa’s health complications have meant the postponing of their wedding, the termination of Jonno’s employment (from having to care for and stay by Lisa’s side) and an inconceivable financial strain for the both of them. Lisa has made leaps and bounds, superseded miracles and given everybody around her a new outlook on life. And the reality is this young couple still have a long road of recovery ahead.
Lisa's story and everything that needs to be said is spoken through Jonno’s beautiful birthday post to her:

4th March 2019
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE LOVE OF MY LIFE!
It’s crazy to think I almost would never
get to say that to you again, When your life was in limbo several times over the last 4 months. So I feel so honoured and privileged to make this post.
I was trying to find words to describe you, but all that I kept coming back to was STRENGTH.
You truely are an inspiration, you have shown me what strength really looks like, with being in the hospital for 120 days (exactly 4 months). I remember time and time again the doctors would have meetings with your family and I and tell us there was doubts you would make it out of the day alive and to take things hour by hour - as they had done everything they could and believed you would not survive.
After many sleepless nights and foodless days, those hours became days, and days became weeks. Meeting after meeting, you defied the odds that the doctors gave you and came through the end beating all their diagnosis and prognosis; Severe Pulmonary Hypertension, multiple organ failure (heart, lungs, kidneys, and liver), a superbug, being unconscious for 2 months, 2x laparotomy, a bilateral lung transplant, multiple spinal infarctions and the diagnosis of paraplegia (as complication of the life support).
Even in the smaller you showed your strength; multiple insertions of NG tubes, multiple central lines, permacaths, drains, and the countless daily blood tests and needles.
And got off life support, one machine at a time; nitric oxide machine, dialysis machine, ECMO machine, and the dreaded ventilator (tracheostomy weaning).
After 76 days in ICU, you came out with your heart, liver, and kidneys going back to normal function, and 2 beautiful new lungs (which you received 5 days after being listed for transplant), and with movement in your lower limbs with a new chance at life.
I know we still have quite a journey on our hands but I wouldn’t want to do life with anyone else. Through the ups and downs, we’ll get through this. Nothing like almost losing you for good, to put things in perspective and make me forget the little things.
I guess I’m making such a public post to also give thanks to my one and only father in heaven, who has shown mercy time and time again and for getting you through so much. Thank you God! Without him we’d have no hope, lost, and would definitely not have the healing we have seen in you. Thank God, he has never left our side through it all and will not leave our side, and in Jesus name - you will walk again.
Happy birthday babe, and to many many many more!!
I love you now more than ever!! Xoxo ❤️
Let’s keep battling this and get home !
