Legal fees for British Army Soldier Twane Morgan

Donation protected

Please join me in supporting this worth cause.  I am trying to raise funds for my brother's legal fees.

We are so thankful that over 100,000 people have signed the petition to stop the deportation of Twane Morgan, a former Commonwealth soldier in the British army who served two tours in Afghanistan.  This means so much as Twane was prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice for Queen and country.

Twane served in the British Army until 2007 but had to be discharged early due to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).  Unfortunately, he did not receive any post-army care.  He did not obtain the British citizenship he was entitled to as a former Commonwealth soldier.

In Sept 2011 Twane got into a fight with the father of his ex-partner whilst they were at home drinking together and the stepfather was badly injured.  Twane received a 6 year prison sentence (but served 3).  Twane was released in December 2013 and the Home Office have been attempting to deport him ever since.

This ongoing legal battle has already cost Twane and the family £1000s in legal fees.  We are financially exhausted and have no means of raising more funds ourselves to pay for the legal fees and expert reports required to support Twane’s case.

Since his release from prison the Home Office have made two attempts to deport Twane.  Both times his lawyers were required to get emergency injunctions from the court to stop the deportation taking place.  It is having a very negative effect on Twane’s mental health and he has also been diagnosed with bi-polar, along with the ongoing diagnosis of PTSD.

Twane’s mental health will deteriorate dramatically if he is deported to Jamaica.  In the UK he has the support of his long-term British partner, his British citizen sister and his British grandfather who is a member of the Windrush generation.  Twane also has a significant relationship with his five British children aged 2 – 14 years.

Twane’s case is being supported by his constituent MP Preet Gill.  Also a group of cross-party MPs have signed an open letter to the Home Secretary in support of Twane’s case.  This is as much a political issue as it is a legal issue.  We believe it will affect how Commonwealth, Foreign and even British soldiers are treated when they leave the British army.  Likewise, BARAC UK's online petition gained 100,000 of support for Twane.

Twane is now being supported by the charity Veterans UK who have recently become aware of his case.  So at last Twane is getting the treatment he needs and deserves - over a decade after leaving the army.  This would never have happened if he had been deported to Jamaica.

However, Twane’s legal battle continues.  At this time we would like to welcome to our campaign all potential donors who can provide monetary assistance to fight his deportation case.  The money will be used to pay legal fees, court fees and expert reports essential to strengthening Twane’s case.

You have read Twane's story.  It has been a long and tiring battle. We need your help and support to make further submissions to the Home office and the court.  Without enough monetary fund’s Twane's legal battle will suffer. Thus we are asking our supporters to please give generously in support of this worthy cause. This Commonwealth War Veteran needs your help.  No amount is too small.

Thank you all for reading and for your support. We greatly appreciate you all. Thanks in advance.
