I’m reaching out to ask for your kindness and support for a very close friend of mine, Rick, and his beautiful fiancée, Lisa.

Recently, Rick and Lisa travelled to Tenerife to finalise plans for their dream wedding, which was due to take place this November. What should have been a joyful and exciting time has turned into an unimaginable nightmare.

Lisa’s mum and her husband had also flown out to Tenerife to join Rick and Lisa for a family holiday and to be part of the wedding planning. But shortly after arriving, tragedy struck.

While in Tenerife, Lisa suddenly became critically ill and suffered a major stroke. She has undergone several life-saving operations and remains in a coma in hospital. She is just 40 years old.

Lisa is a devoted mother to two young boys, and Rick—her loving fiancé—has not left her side. He is facing the unthinkable, and the emotional toll on him, their children, and the rest of the family is enormous. He is unable to return to work as he now needs to focus entirely on Lisa’s care and supporting their boys during this uncertain time.

Lisa’s mum has shown incredible strength throughout this ordeal. Despite being heartbroken herself, she has done everything she can to be there for Lisa—and has also tried her best to be there for Rick, offering him emotional support and helping to hold the family together in the darkest of times. Her husband has also remained by their side, offering constant support in any way he can.

This has been an incredibly hard and traumatic experience for the whole family—both those in Tenerife and loved ones back home in England, who are watching on helplessly, desperate to support from afar. The impact has rippled through everyone who knows and loves Lisa.

Because Lisa cannot return home until she is medically stable—and with Rick needing to remain with her—this young family is now facing overwhelming financial pressures on top of their emotional pain.
