Helping Ed

Donation protected

On June 22, while preparing dinner with the family, Ed VonDeBur, suffered an injury in which 27% of his body sustained second and third degree burns. He was initially admitted to the burn ICU while waiting for surgery to have skin grafts placed on the third degree burns. Following surgery, Ed had several set backs, which bounced him from the general floor to intermediate care and to the ICU several times over a two week period. Since his last stay on the general floor he has been discharged to Memorial's 3B rehab floor where he has been working on getting stronger and gaining more mobility so he can return home. While Ed's hospital stay is coming to an end soon, his recovery process is far from over. He will continue to need twice daily dressing changes, therapy and several trips to MD appointments. Because of this accident Ed has not been able to work and will not be able to return to work for several weeks if not months while his burns heal.

In the last year Ed has been off work for two months with Covid-19 and then again in March for a back surgery. Needless to say, it has been a crappy year all around. But we are blessed that we can still fight the fight, laugh and enjoy the gifts of life.

Those who know Ed, know he would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need, but is one of the last people to ask for help in return. With medical bills mounting and the uncertainty of when he will be able to return to work, let's show Ed some love and help him ease some of the stress while he recovers.
