Mackenzie is almost 10. She was born with a craniofacial condition called Apert Syndrome. She has had a dozen surgeries to correct multiple birth defects. She just got braces as well a pallete expander. Her teeth, jaws and pallete need a lot more work. She has been very self concious about her smile lately so i chose to go ahead and get the orthodontic work started. The expander is needed to widen her jaw. Due to her craniofacial condition her face does not grow therefor she has severe sleep apnea requiring her to wear a cpap mask to sleep. She also has severe dental crowding due to this. The doctor said if we can widen her jaw her sleep apnea may get better.My insurance only pays $1000 for orthodontic work even though it is needed for medical reasons. I want her to feel good about her smile and not be so worried about her smile. They set us up on a payment plan but is almost as much as a new car payment therefor i could really use some extra funding for her so i can continue this treatment.
