Dear Friends:
I hope this email finds you all well. I am contacting each of you and asking for your assistance. Like, many of you, I have had more than a few loved ones close to me that were confronted with the devastating diagnosis of cancer.
The latest is a dear friend that is very close to my heart. I want to introduce you to Christa. Christa is a true success story. She found herself homeless at age 15. A kind single woman took Christa in and she assisted with her children and household chores which allowed Christa to support herself and finish high school. After high school she immediately began working to support herself and attended college part time and was able to purchase a condo at age 19. As a single mom for most of her life, she raised an amazing daughter who is now 25 and on her own. In her early twenties Christa started working in insurance and within a few short years was a rising executive with Marsh McLennan, one of the top insurance brokerage companies in the Country. At 30 she decided to leave Marsh to start her own insurance brokerage agency which recently celebrated 20 years in business. Her business has been successful but was severely impacted by the recession.
Unfortunately, just as she recently concluded a brutal 2 year divorce that devastated her both financially and emotionally, she noticed a lump in her breast and, after extensive testing, was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer. She just finished her second round of chemo therapy and is scheduled for 4 more treatments over the next 2 months. She will then be getting a mastectomy to be followed by 4 weeks of radiation treatment. After that she hopes to be able to get breast reconstruction then resume a normal life. She is attempting to maintain COBRA insurance coverage following the divorce. However, even if successful, she is facing out of pocket medical and related costs exceeding $20,000. In addition, during this challenging time she is working to try to maintain her business that will allow her to try to keep her home and pay her bills.
Christa has always been one that was there for her friends, her daughter and her loved ones. She has always given to others. She is very independent and has relied on hard work to succeed and does not like to rely on others for charity or support. However, I know that she has been through hell and is struggling financially and I want to help her. She is an amazing person that is very deserving and needs to get the support back that she has given so many people over her life so far.
As I noted, me and my family have had our share of run ins with cancer. When it hits people that we are close to, we like to rally support. I am now asking for your support. I am not asking for large donations, a $5 donation is awesome because it shows that you took the time to fight Cancer and support this amazing woman who is going through a very difficult time. Any support you can provide will be greatly appreciated. Our goal is to raise $20,000 for Christa to assist her on covering her out of pocket medical expenses, beat cancer and ease her mind as she tries to maintain her business and keep her home.
Thanks and I hope you will join me in helping Christa win her fight against cancer. I will be extremely thankful for any support you can afford. It will be a gift for Christa that she is not expecting.
Kind Regards,
Ken
