What would our society be without Teachers? What would we and our children be without a good public school system? Not very much...
As you all know, our brave and courageous 21 teachers (3 per grade from K to 5th plus Kathryn, Cindy and Phyllis) at Community Magnet Charter School have been, along with the rest of the Los Angeles Teachers, striking since Monday, January 14, fighting for their rights and for our children’s rights.
They have been dealing with a state of extreme fatigue picketing bright and early each day in front of our school, running to various rallies, all this under heavy rains, and having to face the stress of no paycheck to pay their bills.
Helping alleviate some of that costly stress would be a good way for us to show them our gratitude and our support.
Like you I know, as a working mom of two, with no family around, that it’s been very challenging keeping the kids at home, day care and activities are a lot to pay extra, so please know I don’t want you to feel pressured into donating.
However and if your family at CMCS is able to participate in this funding to help our fantastic teachers, let’s say $10 per family, with over 400 families at our school, we could attempt reaching our goal of $4,000 and more. Not a lot when divided into 21, but better than nothing! Our teachers do their utmost for our children each day, all year, so please, dear friends, for OUR teachers fighting for OUR children, let’s come together and give back.
Once we close the fund, the money will be withdrawn and given to Phyllis for evenly distributing it amongst them all.
