Tutoring for Kids Struggling with Online School

Tax deductible

We've all seen that kids are struggling and many are failing with remote schooling. Kids refer to online school as "pretend school"...nothing feels real! Imagine that TODAY a child can start to receive one-on-one tutoring that is personalized, consistent and high quality, and that also takes into account the effects of the pandemic on mental health?

My name is Anita and I designed "Concrete Steps" as a bespoke tutor, homeschooler and education advocate to provide a scalable solution to the "Covid slide". I have seen very many kids fall off the curriculum radar, parents no longer able to afford tutoring, and others who have never even thought of it, but are so deep in the academic hole and desperately need one-on-one help.  Experts say that many kids will be 10-12 months behind their peers by the end of the school year. This fundraiser will enable us to start the process of remediation, recovering lost learning and rebuilding confidence immediately. Our tutors are homeschooling mothers, retired teachers and Peace Corps Volunteers (Education Specialists) who can't be overseas.

Inequities in education have long persisted (since 1969) and have been blown open by the pandemic for all to see. With your help we can seize the opportunity to use the tools we are now familiar with - Zoom, remote learning agency, older siblings or parents being home more - to take that first concrete step to filling skill gaps for low income, at-risk youth, ESL students, and children who learn differently among others.

This is for ANY CHILD in the DMV (District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia) that is struggling regardless of school.  As a neighbor, friend or relative will you help the children in your community, so each child's school work counts and MATTERS (in the long run)?

PLUS DID YOU KNOW that the CARES Act and the $300 “universal” charitable deduction entitles every taxpayer, even those who do not itemize deductions, to deduct up to $300 of cash contributions made to most charities including this 501(c)3?  This unique opportunity gives a chance for everyone to get a credit for at least a portion of their charitable giving in 2020.
