Hello Family & Friends,

It is difficult to type this without crying, a mom’s battle cry for help. Our daughter Marie could really use your prayers, as well as her husband and children.

Over the last several months, Marie has been struggling with worsening symptoms: headaches, trouble swallowing, tingling throughout, and leg weakness. After months of waiting

and not getting answers locally in Juneau, we decided to seek care out of State.

She underwent multiple MRI’s, hoping for answers about Ehlers Danlos syndrome (EDS) and possible Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Instead, the scans revealed something we weren’t expecting:

a large tumor in her mediastinum (neck/chest area). This has been overwhelming and frightening, but we’re taking it one step at a time.

What’s next includes a CT scan, lumbar spinal tap, and biopsy of the tumor, along with consults with a thoracic surgeon, head and neck surgeon, geneticist/EDS specialist, and ENT.

Ongoing follow ups with specialists will also be needed.

Unfortunately, despite urgent care and ER visits, Marie has faced long delays in getting referrals approved through our local health system. Because of this, she has had to go out of state to get answers and access to the specialists she urgently needs. Her current insurance

doesn’t cover everything, and the cost of travel, lodging, and uncovered medical bills is becoming a heavy burden.

Marie and our son in law, Colt will have many unforeseen expenses with this new development in her health. Financially, it would be a huge blessing to ease the burden of bills that have

already begun to pile up, and to prepare for the unknown ahead.
