Hi, I'm writing on behalf of one of my favorite people in the world, Bobby Ortiz. He's fighting cancer for the second time. In 2009, Bobby developed cancer, got surgery and chemo, and it went into remission. But it has come back now.

Bobby always says he's about transforming life-wounds into medicine. Bobby spent two decades incarcerated for a crime. His medicine has been taking responsibility and being accountable. He was able to have a Restorative Justice dialogue with his victims where he apologized, listened to them tell their stories of healing, and lives his daily commitment to being a living amends. They're all close friends since that day and they even advocated for Bobby at his parole hearing to come home .

But the cancer came back about a year ago and Bobby's insurance won't cover his supplements and treatment therapies. So now he has to pay out of pocket to treat the cancer. His disability has also run out so he has no current income while he's off work trying to beat the cancer. Therefore, on my friend's behalf, I've set up this GoFundMe to try to raise money for his treatments. This way, he can turn this wound into medicine and continue spreading his life-medicine to his grandkids, his friends, the youth he mentors, and everyone he meets.
