My name is Shaian, and I’m finally taking the first real step toward a dream I’ve carried for a long time — becoming a certified nail artist and building a beautiful, feminine, grounded salon space that reflects both who I am and where I come from.

This year has brought some unexpected challenges, including a recent ankle injury that really put things into perspective for me. It reminded me how important it is to build a future that supports my long-term health and wellbeing — a career that allows me to work creatively, flexibly, and with purpose.

Instead of slowing me down, it pushed me forward.

My vision is to specialise in Korean gel nail techniques — known for their durability, softness, and stunning aesthetic — while incorporating subtle Māori-inspired elements and details that honour my culture in a modern, respectful way. I hope to create a space (whether from home or mobile) where women can feel celebrated, relaxed, and confident.

To start this journey, I’m fundraising to cover:

• Professional nail technician training - $4400

• Specialty Korean gel products & tools, Lamp, kits, and sanitisation materials- $1000

• Start-up materials for at-home or mobile services

• Licensing, setup costs, and basic branding
