Life was beautiful. I was living my dream on a rural homestead with my husband and our five boys, building a future filled with love, laughter, and hard work. My husband and I shared everything, including a vision for something special—a bakery that would not only support our family but become a warm and welcoming space for our community.

But in an instant, everything changed.

At just 39 years old, my husband passed away suddenly, leaving me a widow and a single mother. In the blink of an eye, I lost my partner, my best friend, and the future we had planned together. Grief was overwhelming, but as I tried to piece my life back together for my boys, another reality loomed—I have Multiple Sclerosis, a disease that causes debilitating pain and exhaustion, making traditional work incredibly difficult.

Being a single mother means I need flexibility—a job that allows me to be there for my boys when they need me while also providing for them. This bakery is more than just a business idea. It is my dream, my passion, and the future I am fighting to build.

Since I was 14, I’ve known I wanted to open my own bakery. When I met my husband, that dream became more than just a fantasy—it was something we talked about, planned for, and worked toward together. When he died, I didn’t just lose him—I lost our future, our dreams, and everything we had built.

But I refuse to let my dream die with him.

I want to build this bakery, The BlackWidow, as a legacy—not just for myself, but for my children. I want them to see that no matter how many hurdles life throws our way, we do not give up. I want them to grow up knowing that their mother fought for this dream, for them, and for the life we were meant to have.

To start, I need a food truck—a stepping stone that will allow me to bring my vision to life, build a customer base, and eventually open a brick-and-mortar bakery. But I can’t do this alone.
