My son Ken and his wife Melissa, parents of four, are navigating ongoing health challenges, recent job loss, and a major renovation disaster in their new-to-them Belgravia home. A furnace-room renovation went sideways and they required emergency asbestos abatement of some plaster walls and their entire HVAC system! The abatement has damaged the ductwork, walls in every room of the house, and completely gutted their basement. They need community support to make their home safe again, and to rebuild the basement into a living space that will give their whole family much needed stability.

As friends and family know, they have been resilient in the face of considerable adversity, with a series of tragedies, unrelenting health challenges, and related financial hardship. Facing cancer, autoimmune diseases, neurodevelopmental and mental health challenges, and many other difficult circumstances is part of their life. They’ve met this adversity with faith, perseverance, determination, and loving prayer support.

After a long road to financial stability, this past year people and organizations near to our family acted in discouraging, damaging, and surprising ways causing significant job disruptions, at the very worst possible time. They are reeling and we are hurting with them.

Due to the job disruption, the financial hardship has been mounting, along with uninsured health-related expenses. They have paid for the abatement, and the repair of the ductwork, but still need to rebuild their basement into livable space for their son, and the whole family. I pray and hope to raise at least $20K of the $75K needed just to get things back to normal. Without support, they will face considerable financial hardship and be unable to make longer-term improvements they had planned for accessibility and income security in their home.

Please help me to realize their goal of a safe and healthy home, despite the challenges they’ve faced this past year, and for so many years now. Let's give them a renewed hope and the opportunity to focus on their vocations, their health, and their children with a little help from all of us.
