It is bitterly cold there and these people are out in the cold with nothing, maybe they lost everything they have, including their loved ones. What breaks my heart the most are the children and the orphans and this prompted me to set up this campaign.
Who We Are
- My name is Brooke Menconi and my Husband Dheea Alehfadee and our 3 children moved from Houston to Antalya 2 years ago. We still own a small business in Houston now for 11 years The Keratin Salon and used to work there as stylists, but now manage from abroad.
The earthquake shook our lights but we live in Antalya, far from the epicenter. The tragedy is unimaginable in the way of how many people are suffering right now. On top of the economic hardships the people have been facing with extreme Turkish lira devaluation, now many are facing such tragic losses.
I am aware of how many people are dishonest when doing something like this and especially the big non-profits who take so much from the donation and it is doubtful your charity to these organizations is ever really fully realized for the victims.
- This money will go to buying aid items (winter blankets/jackets/tents/stoves/food/diapers/sanitary products etc) and giving them directly to those in need.
- My children's school ICCA Antalya Toplum Koleji has organized a fundraiser of such items and there are many places to drop off these items to be directly sent through AFAD Turkish emergency management services, who are now working tirelessly to rescue victims still trapped in the rubble and will organize the displaced and effected. Bottom line, your donations will be used solely for the intended purpose of helping the survivors.

I truly believe in the Good in people and it is times like these when we are reminded of what it means to be a human being, that it is about helping our neighbor and caring for others. Treating others the way we would want them to treat us. Doing the right thing. Giving.
