Two deadly earthquakes hit southern Turkey and northern Syria in the early hours of February 6th. The official death toll nears 31.000 (and keeps rising every day) and approximately 13 million are thought to be affected by the disaster. Most of the survivors are displaced, left homeless and in massive need.
Among them are our own family members who were all living in Antakya and İskenderun. Their homes, their office buildings, the schools, the hospitals of their city, all gone. This is a material loss they face while suffering from the irreparable and inconsolable loss of their loved ones. Once they bury these beloved poeple they, as survivors, will need everything to rebuild their lives. This is our personal appeal and all your contributions will be directly sent to them and will be used for temporary shelter, the crucial items that they all lost like telephones, clothes, medicines, and the cancer treatment of some members in another city (this is extremely urgent).
Donating to organizations is always appreciated but we couldn't sit and wait patiently for the help to reach them while witnessing their agony. Therefore, if you could donate even with the smallest amount and share this campaign with your network and local community, that would immensely help rebuild life, rekindle hopes, reflourish the barren lands of our hometown.
We pledge to provide updates for every step and give further details as needed.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts,
Ugurcan Taskin - Burcu Tümkaya Taşkın
