As a compassionate all-foster, all-volunteer animal rescue without a facility, all animals rescued first arrive at my home for decompression.

Once they've run the yard, let off some stress and steam, we then harness them up with tags, leashes, crates and supplies to go home with foster families.

We are double-fenced, both back and front, and have safety precautions in place similar to those at a dog-park to prevent escapes. All meet and greets, when ready for adoption, also happen here.

Our challenge is the lawn. With constant activity, digging, and bodily relief, we are unable to grow/maintain grass, leaving our yard barren and muddy, with deeply dug treacherous holes that can cause injury.

Our goal is to have pet-friendly durable Artificial Turf installed by a local family business in Verona (Hillcrest Farms).

But it's expensive.

We would be so deeply grateful for the community's assistance to help us meet this goal. Saving approximately 500 lives per year has taken its toll on my yard, and we need to rectify this problem.

Our co-founder, Rosemarie Cafiero, my late rescue-partner and mentor, saved over 7,000 lives before succumbing to cancer in 2018. And together, we've added thousands and thousands more to that marvelous count.
