Turd Bird’s Fundraiser

My cousin Lindsey Wilson was in a horrific car crash on May 16, 2022, the accident happened while she was on her way home from work at 11:00 p.m. The accident took place westbound on I-94 at Haggerty Road and multiple cars were involved. Lindsey was taken to the hospital and is still in critical condition.

Lindsey is a fun-loving individual who never allowed her disability to get in the way of loving and living life to the fullest. Lindsey was born with congenital heart disease and had her first, of many, open-heart surgeries when she was a few days old. When Lindsey was a baby she underwent a Fontan operation, which is performed as a palliative procedure to improve survival in infants born with heart defects. Lindsey’s multiple surgeries and congenital heart disease has presented medical professionals with a unique physiology on her road to recovery from the accident. 

When Lindsey was a baby her mom gave her the nickname “Turd Bird”. This nickname was given to her due to her eating like a bird and pooping like a bird. Our family still uses this nickname today. A name that Lindsey responds to proudly. It’s not uncommon for Lindsey’s current medical team to use her nickname when referring to her or talking to her. 

Our family has been by her bedside around the clock since the accident. She continues to fight daily. This accident has left our family struggling to pay her bills and go to work.
