Help for BB!

Hi. As some of you know, BB has been diagnosed with throat cancer after experiencing a lot of pain over the last two years. Where the NHS failed to scan, test or diagnose his illness, the Portuguese health system has stepped up. He has been hospitalised several times in the last month for 2-3 days each time. Barely able to swallow more than a few mouthfuls of soup or smoothie each day, and unable to hold that food down, he has lost more than 20kg in weight, Under these circumstances it is unclear whether the alternative treatments he is taking are helping to shrink the tumour. Given the current inertia with the NHS, staying in Portugal for chemo and radiation treatment in a couple of weeks time, seems like the best option, but it means going without the emotional support of friends in the UK and the financial support of the British welfare system. This fund is to help him with all the huge costs that go with living with cancer and with renting an apartment near the hospital in Coimbra - at the moment Monica has to drive him for over 3 hours each way from her home.
