NY Mission Trip

We are very excited about an opportunity God has given our family this summer to tell others about Jesus Christ. On July 12, we will be departing for Yonkers, NY. All five of us are going! This will be our first mission trip as a family. Matthew, Savanna and I have been on several mission trips but this will be the first time the boys will get to join us.
We will be joining a team of 14 others, mostly from our church, Amelia Baptist and some other area churches. Amelia Baptist has a heart to extend the gospel both here in northeast Florida and beyond. In New York we will be working with Christian Bible Church in Yonkers. God has brought together these two Southern Baptist churches to partner together for the advancement of the gospel. Christian Bible Church is a Southern Baptist Church located in downtown Yonkers, a city of 200,000 bordering the Bronx. Their community is a mission field with only 3% of the population attending an evangelical church.
We will be helping Christian Bible Church, a small and struggling church, advance the gospel in various ways. We will be sharing coffee, donuts, free kids face painting and conversation about Jesus Christ right on the streets of the city. We will also be prayer walking through several neighborhoods. For three nights, we will host a VBS for un-churched children who live in the community. It will be a busy, full week of making Jesus Christ known in this city and encouraging a sister church. I know we will return home with even more excitement to make Christ known here in northeast Florida.
While God has opened up a door for us to develop a greater heart of compassion for His people, the exciting part is that you will be able to share in this compassion in several ways. First, you can help pray for our mission team. We will need prayers that God will prepare us for our visit and bless our efforts as we minister to the people of Yonkers. We will also need prayers that our financial needs will be met. At this time we need to raise $600 per person plus the cost of food to attend this trip and that is quite a challenge for a family of five! We have no doubt that God will meet this need!
Another way you can be involved is to help provide that financial support. Would you consider supporting us with a small donation? We will need to raise all funds by June 15 in order to pay for airline tickets and other items. Whether you feel led to contribute financially, through prayer, or both, all of your support is very much appreciated!
