Tunes 4 Barrett 2022

As many of you may already know Barrett Kammerer (age 16) was born with an A-Typical Rett Syndrome variant called CDKL5.

 

Tunes4Barrett has been a huge in helping with her care Funds have gone to help her with her handicap vehicle, therapy equipment, custom handicapped accessible shower, ramps, seizure medication not covered by insurance and many other items that help with her care. Last year we were able to take Barrett to Casting4ACure in Victor, ID with the support received from Tunes4Barrett. It was a huge undertaking which couldn't have been done without T4B support.

 

This year we are raising money for various adaptive equipment. She is a strong girl, and unfortunately she has broken equipment that is necessary for her daily care and has now become a safety issue for both Barrett and her caregivers.

 

In addition, because taking her to Casting4ACure was such a success, we want to take her to the Fall 2022 Risers4Rett event and the 2022 Risers4Rett Women's event. Both of these events are integral in funding the Rett Clinic at Children's Hospital. These events will highlight Barrett's A-typical form of Rett Syndrome, CDKL5.

 

Rett Syndrome (RTT) is a unique neuro-developmental disorder which begins to show its effects in infancy or early childhood. It is seen almost exclusively in females, although it can occur rarely in boys. The disorder severely disrupts the development of gross and fine motor skills as well as robbing girls of their ability to speak and communicate with the outside world. Seizures and breathing problems can also be prevailing symptoms.

 

It affects every aspect of a family’s life, as these girls are dependent upon others for almost everything, from helping feed them to helping them get around, bathing, and most other daily tasks that most of us take for granted.
