TUNE IN FOR “TUNES”
Musician extraordinaire Michael "Tunes" Antunes needs our help.
“Tunes” is suffering from a condition that will require extensive and time-consuming oral surgeries. This procedure is required in order for him to continue playing his saxophone and earning a living. If you don't know Michael “Tunes” Antunes here's a quick history.
Tunes has been an in-demand Saxophone player since the 1960's and has played with many great artists including, Ronnie James Dio, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, The Coasters, The Shirelles and since 1977 John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band with whom he still performs.
Musicians are considered self employed and adequate health insurance is often difficult to obtain. Tunes is in a tough financial situation. He's going to need significant resources to cover expenses that Medicare just doesn't provide, and he may not be able to perform for up to a year.
Tunes relies entirely on his ability to earn a living through his performances. Not only is money needed for medical cost and living expenses, but these surgeries will provide Tunes with something most important to him; the ability to continue making music and entertaining people. As stated by Tunes himself, "Not only do I have to play to pay my bills, but I need to play for my spiritual well-being, this is who I am."
Anyone who has seen Tunes perform knows that he channels his heart and soul through his horn and does so night after night. His solos and stage presence continue to stimulate audiences while simultaneously inspiring his fellow musicians to strive for a higher level of musicianship. Mr. Tunes is truly an amazing talent.
Besides his musicianship Tunes has a heart of gold, for the past 40 years he has donated countless hours of performances and time to a wide variety of charities. Now it's his time of need and our turn to repay an artists who has given so much of himself to others.
Please take this opportunity to give back to a man who has dedicated his life to his art and his soul to his audience. With your help, he will recover and get back out there doing what Tunes does best; playing the best Rock -N- Roll Saxophone that you have ever heard!
