Tuna's Emergency Care: We Need Your Help

Update 6/16: Tuna is home! As we wait for test results for FIP and Toxoplasmosis to come back, he is doing outpatient care on a multitude of medications to help manage his symptoms and get a head start on antibiotics if this is either of the above causing his illness. We also have a follow up appointment next week to do another round of blood work, among other analysis for his kidneys, to check on his progress and we will continue to update this page as we learn more! Hi Everyone, this is our 4-year-old cat, Tuna. Tuna is currently suffering from kidney disease from an unknown cause. In recent weeks, he’s lost a significant amount of weight, is excessively drinking water and urinating, and is overall lethargic, which is abnormal for his spicy attitude. His kidney values are also severely reduced, causing him extreme discomfort. He has been hospitalized for the last 3 days undergoing extensive testing, receiving fluids, and other medications, but there has been no clear indication of what this could be caused by at this point, and his values are continuing to worsen as we wait for test results to come back. He is currently undergoing FIP treatment in case this is the cause, but there are other concerns that are making this unclear.

We have no idea how long he will be hospitalized or what could be wrong, but with the proper care and treatment from his care team, Tuna can have a positive outcome and get back to his normal, so we are kindly requesting any donations that are able to be provided at this time to help support his veterinary care. We are reaching a point where we don’t know how much longer we can finance his care without additional support and are worried he won’t receive what he needs to make a full recovery without it.

Tuna is our entire world. He loves churus, making biscuits before drinking water (his water dance), and playing with mice toys. He also loves playing with his little brother, Goose, when he’s not feeling sick. He has many more years ahead of him to play, eat treats, bask in the sun, and be loved by his doting parents if we can help support him now.
