Supporting Families Impacted by the Recent Tragedy in Tumbler Ridge

On February 10th, 2026, our close-knit community of Tumbler Ridge experienced a heartbreaking tragedy that has deeply affected many families. As we come together in grief and solidarity, it is clear that those impacted will need our support—not only emotionally but also financially—as they navigate the challenges ahead.

We, as the parents on the The Tumbler Ridge Parent Advisory Committee (PAC), in collaboration with local TR organizations, has established this official GoFundMe to raise funds for the families who have been directly affected by this event. These funds will provide essential assistance such as covering unexpected expenses, supporting daily needs, and helping with any ongoing recovery efforts.

Our community has always stood strong in times of adversity, and this is an opportunity for us to extend a helping hand to those who need it most. Whether you are a local resident or someone touched by the spirit of Tumbler Ridge, your contribution—no matter how big or small—will make a meaningful difference.

Statement regarding allocation of funds:

All funds received this week are being directed immediately to support the urgent financial needs of the victims’ families. We have also reached out to the families of the two girls who remain in serious condition and are currently awaiting confirmation of their specific needs. Immediate support may include mortgage or rent payments, fuel and travel expenses, and costs associated with bringing loved ones in to be with family members, where necessary.

As these urgent needs are met, funds will then be allocated to assist with funeral and burial arrangements as required. As we continue to understand each family’s needs, this will also include helping to support transportation to locations where families would like final resting places to be. After that, we will continue working closely with each family to address any longer-term needs they may have in the weeks and months ahead.

Our primary goal has been to provide a secure, trusted place for our community to contribute collectively in support of these devastated families, ensuring they do not have to carry financial burdens during this incredibly difficult time.

We want to sincerely thank our community and country for the overwhelming generosity and support. We also extend our gratitude to Bob Zimmer, Member of Parliament, and the North and South Peace MLAs for their assistance in helping families navigate provincial and federal systems as needed during this time.
