Dear Supporter/Parishioner,

Since 1996 the club has completed four phases of development at our club grounds in Brownstown.

In Phase 1 the main playing pitch was levelled, enlarged and floodlighting was installed. This was funded from the resources of the club.

In Phase 2 the club purchased 3.5 acres of land in order to expand the playing areas for use by all teams. This was funded mainly by a parish collection taken up in 2001.

In Phase 3 a new Clubhouse and Hurling Wall was constructed in 2010 to provide modern facilities for all players. This was funded by grants, a Parish Collection and a (fully repaid) Bank Loan.

In Phase 4 the Juvenile pitch was levelled, planning issues from earlier phases were addressed and the Car Park was completed in 2019. This was funded by club resources and a Clar grant of €30,000.

We are now in a fifth phase of development that involves the purchase of 6 acres of adjoining land for the development of a new full-sized pitch. This will provide much needed playing and training areas for the increasing number of adult and juvenile members. The purchase of the land was completed in November 2020 at a total cost of €160,000 (€150,000 for the land and €10,000 for legal, planning and miscellaneous costs). This was covered by club resources plus a €90,000 Bank of Ireland (7 year) loan and a preliminary phase of the Parish Collection from Committee Members. Repayments on this loan are €1,292 per month and this is covered by the Development Draw.

Development of the new pitch is estimated to cost €151,000 and we have applied for Lotto Funds of €126,000. Croke Park have promised a grant of €30,000 for the land purchase (expected in 2022). To reduce our borrowings (and repayments) we have decided to make a special appeal to the general population of our parish and to companies and business people who are associated with our area to support this fund-raising. We would be most grateful if you would make a contribution to our campaign to reduce our indebtedness.

We appreciate that many parishioners do not have a direct involvement in the club, however, as this is a parish project from which many in the parish will benefit, we would welcome donations big or small from all parishioners. This facility will be something that the parish can be proud for many years to come.

In anticipation of your support and generosity,

Yours sincerely,

John Ryan, Chairman
Matt O'Brien, President
Michael Grennan, Secretary
Sean Kennedy, Treasurer
