I am organizing this fundraiser on behalf of someone very near and dear to me. They have asked to stay anonymous.
They are a trans, queer, neurodivergent, South Asian comrade currently working and studying on xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) lands, "British Columbia, Canada".
They need funds for their university tuition, and to pay off pending medical bills. They are currently working two part-time jobs as a full time student.
Due to a recent increase in tuition for international students at their university- they are unable to fund their final semester.
Throughout the past 5 years, I have bared witness to the resilience they have held despite consistently facing harassment, discrimination, and violent assaults on the basis of their race, ethnicity, gender, and sexuality. This ongoing racial trauma has also impacted their mental and physical health, causing more medical and prescription costs. I know I speak for others, as well as myself when I say- their impact and generosity within our community overflows.
Supporting this fundraiser will help them continue to show up for their community, complete their education, and receive the medical support they need.
Tuition fees for next semester: 10,800 CAD
Current and ongoing medical debt: 3,337 CAD
Total Fundraising Goal: 15,000 CAD
Goal needs to be met by January 15th!
Any extra funds will go toward their immediate needs (rent, food) and will be forwarded to other mutual aid requests from their community.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Please share or give what you can!
