My name is Soraya, and I'm resorting to this with the desperate hopes of saving my education. I'm currently a first-year student managing to get through first semester because of OSAP, but I will run out of the funds by the time second semester of second-year begins.

Since considering University, the thought of somehow being able to attend for even a year felt impossible. Nevermind for being able to attend past that. I had no means of income, was stuck in an environment that was, in short terms, destructive... But for a while, it felt possible. OSAP came in, it covered first year perfectly, and I worked tirelessly to escape my situation. University meant a reason for me to "get out", to escape. Now, it will allow me to help people in need; people who struggled like me. It will keep me afloat and far away from all of the things that harmed me. To pay for all of University still feels out of reach, but just having more time to put into saving for tuition makes it closer than right now. To get halfway into my 4 year program makes it feel achievable.

I have put on the task of working two jobs to fund myself, but I am unable to support myself financially for any other reasons at the cost of tuition (e.g. I cannot buy groceries). In order to have a chance at paying tuition in time, all of my earnings must go towards it. My work also has periods of time where there is no business at all. I am not supported financially by either of my parents, and communication with them-- for this matter-- is impossible. Relying on others around me for any kind of help has put a strain on them, and I feel awful for needing the help. Despite this, I do not have family which can support me for my education. I barely have family that can help sustain my basic needs.

It has been incredibly hard to commute to school, fund myself for basic survival needs, and somehow try to save for University as well. I'm hoping to raise enough for year two, which would just be enough for second semester thanks to OSAP. My goal is $4,500. I'm usually not the type to plead with strangers especially, but I don't know what to do anymore. Any contribution helps, I'd be grateful for absolutely anything, even if it didn't make it to the longterm goal. Starting small, just trying for $1,000 would even be unheard of for me.
