My name is Darryl Chin. Im the owner of Team CNS boxing/kickboxing and mma gym located in Busselton W.A. I have recently been forced to close my gym due to financial reason's and Im regretfully looking to the public's help to keep us alive.
For those that don't know me, Ive been a Busselton resident for 16 years and have been a single full time parent for that time too. Im 45 years young and have plenty of go in me yet.
For 10 years I have been running security and crowd control for the Busselton and Dunsborough area. Many of you may recognize me from the Cape Wine Bar day's. During this time I also trained crowd controllers and security officers self defence and tactics.
I have a competitive karate, kickboxing, wrestling and boxing background. My final fight was for mma in 2011 for King of the Cage at the age of 38. It took its toll on my body as this sport will do and took to sharing my knowledge to those locals that wanted to compete, training was under my patio in my backyard. This was a passion and a hobby at this stage.
Shortly after my fight. I had a heart attack at training requiring me to be flown out to Perth for an emergency angiogram and have a stent placed. I recovered well due to my fitness.
I made a choice then to quit security, and quit competing and to train our locals what I was taught from my home gym to be closer with the kids. This worked well but my popularity grew and a bigger venue was needed to allow for the training. I bit the bullet and leased a shed.
What can I say. I made some mistakes. I learnt some lessons but in doing so have spent my entire savings trying to keep my gym afloat for the last 2 years proving we can mix with the big smoke.
This gym has produced in this time, over 200 bouts fought by our locals both as amateurs and paid professionals all over Australia, showing that our locals can mix it and win against Australias best.
12 professional boxer's and too many amateur boxers, kickboxers and mma competitors to mention.
2x professional boxing state titles, many fight of the night awards and a young local going for the state muay thai title mid september.
3 kids classes per week and helping countless troubled youths and providing them with a unique outlet you couldnt get anywhere else.
Small business is cut throat and the prices for leasing a building in Busselton on par.
Im forced to close next month and am reaching to the public and supporters for any help they can provide.
Funds made will be going strictly to debts owed and the remaining for another venue.
Anything and everything helps. Team CNS has always been more than a gym. Ive watched it progress since 2011 to the name it is now. Be a shame for it to stop now.
Thanking you kindly for taking the time to read.
Please support.
