Tuff Thumbs flood recovery
So a fellow knife maker, Tuff Thumbs (Geoff Blauvelt) was recently the victim of horrible damage to his shop and home due to flooding caused by the recent hurricane. His entire shop and home was flooded and the damage was extensive. Myself and a couple others decided that it would be a good cause to try and help him recover since knife making is his sole source of income. An incident like this could set him back literally 6 months to a year, that is half a year to a year with out any income. These are the blows that can end a small business. I am asking everyone to think what that would be like and to please help out with what you can. Attached are some pictures of his shop and home before and after the water subsided and you can see that it is a mess. All of his machines are in there and will require extensive repairs, but more importantly is the fact that his home was flooded as well and they currently are to live in their home but there still needs to be a huge amount of cleanup from the mud, silt and water that filled the first floor. When I spoke to him this morning he was in good spirits but it has become obvious that he will have to hire someone to assist with the cleaning and repairs. Please lets all help out a talented craftsman entrepreneur!!!
