Tucker’s medical bills from dog attack

Hi my name is Carey Acker, and I'm raising funds for Anne Hagen and her cat Tucker.

On October 6th a loose dog chased and attacked Tucker in Anne's yard in South Park. Tucker was taken to the emergency vet. He had three broken ribs and a punctured lung that required surgical repair and several days of overnight emergency care. The current bill is over $4000 and expected to be $6000 by the time he is released to recover at home.

Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated by this long time South Park resident and her sweet cat Tucker. Anne is retired and lives alone with Tucker.

Tucker is a beloved fixture on our block (Donovan St. between 5th and 7th). When not hanging out at home with Anne, Tucker visits other households and tries to hang out with their kitties. He is affectionate and sweet, and a number of neighbors have developed a soft spot for Tucker.

On October 6th around 4pm workers at a neighboring house witnessed a loose dog target Tucker and attack him in Anne's yard. They rushed over to help get the dog off Tucker. He was able to escape and ran away. When Anne returned home she heard about what happened to Tucker and a search ensued. We weren't able to find him and it turned dark. He sometimes sleeps on my porch in the bed I leave out for kitties who need a dry spot to rest. He must have heard us calling him and came out of hiding to rest on my porch. I called Anne and we rushed him to South Seattle Animal Hospital.

He was admitted immediately for bloodwork, x-rays, and put on oxygen to help with his breathing. There was concern about internal bleeding and they let him stabilize overnight. Saturday he had more x-rays and they did surgery to repair 3 broken ribs and a punctured and torn lung. He's remained on oxygen and continues to be monitored. Tucker is expected to be able to come home to recuperate after 48 hours of emergency medical care. We're looking forward to his sweet purrs!

Now that we know the full cost of Tucker's life saving care, we've updated the goal to $7000. As Anne was laid off from her job just before Tucker's attack, any donations are incredibly helpful. We appreciate all of your support!
