Tucker will Tough it Out - 8 y.o fights Lymphoblastic Cancer

As many of you may know, this past year has been quite a medically complicated and crazy year for Tucker.

Some background for those of you who may not know:

Last May, what was thought to be the start of swimmers ear & a quick trip to the ER unfortunately turned into an admission to McMaster. Tucker had an infection in his mastoid bone, leaving the only option of undergoing a mastoidectomy.

Unfortunately, that was not the end of the mystery. As time went on, Tucker had to undergo multiple surgeries and countless tests. Tucker continued to get pain, swelling, and stiffness that left the medical team with ongoing question marks. His summer days - which every energetic 8 year old plans to be outside for - were then spent in and out of the hospital. Unfortunately, Tucker had many doctors baffled with his case.

It wasn’t until this past week that the family finally received answers. Tucker has been diagnosed with B-cell lymphomablastic cancer. The official in depth diagnosis will be determined after all testing is concluded, but regardless of the title, the treatment will be the same.

Tucker will be starting chemotherapy this week and it will be a very lengthy process - projected to be three years in length. The first 6 months being that of aggressive chemotherapy.

Tucker is the most amazing, energetic, caring, funny and loving 8-year-old who lights up every room he enters with his joyous attitude. There’s nothing that Tuck doesn’t accomplish when he puts his mind to it, and we know in our hearts he’s going to beat this in true tough Tucker fashion.

Tuck loves playing with his 3 other siblings, everything hockey, playing guitar, being outside, riding his dirtbike, swimming, fishing, playing with his puppy, and of course hanging out with friends and family. His mom and dad are both extremely present and amazing parents who’s love, compassion and humour hasn’t missed a beat despite everything going on.

During this time where stress is already so great, we wanted to try and ease some of the financial burden to the situation. Any donations can help carry the load of gas for the commute back and forth of his siblings (who wish to see him so so very often), the possibility for dad to take some extra time off of work as the sole provider, and by allowing his very loving mom to continue to care for him at his bedside, providing him a safe haven even when he's away from home.

Everyone’s well wishes, prayers and positive thoughts are extremely appreciated. Any monetary donations are above and beyond - we cannot thank you enough .

On behalf of Tucker and his family - thank you so much!
