Help Defend Alabama's Constitution

My name is Ken McFeeters, and I am a lifelong Alabama resident, businessman, Republican, and candidate for Governor of Alabama.

I am asking for your help in funding a federal lawsuit concerning a question that goes to the heart of our constitutional system: Should the qualifications required by the Alabama Constitution apply equally to every candidate seeking public office?

My opponent, Tommy Tuberville, retired to Florida in 2017 and resides in a multi-million-dollar beach home there. When he later decided to run for Governor of Alabama, a modest home in Auburn became the residence cited in support of his candidacy.

The Alabama Constitution requires that a Governor be a "resident citizen" of Alabama for at least seven years immediately preceding the election. I believe substantial evidence exists that raises serious questions about whether that constitutional requirement has been met. Rather than fully investigate those questions, the Alabama Republican Party dismissed my initial challenge and later conducted a hearing process that, in my opinion, denied a fair opportunity to present evidence.

During that process, requests to obtain testimony and documents were denied, despite party rules that appeared to allow such discovery. Requests for additional time were also denied, leaving critical questions unanswered.

This effort is not about personalities. It is not about political parties. It is not even about who becomes Governor. It is about whether constitutional requirements matter and whether they will be enforced equally for everyone.

If constitutional qualifications can be ignored for one candidate, they can be ignored for any candidate. The Constitution either applies to all of us or it applies to none of us.

Funds raised through this campaign will be used to pay for legal fees, court costs, filing fees, research, document acquisition, expert analysis, and other expenses necessary to pursue this federal lawsuit and seek a full and transparent examination of the facts.

I have spent my life building businesses, supporting my community, and standing up for constitutional principles. I am now asking fellow Alabamians and supporters of honest government to help me continue this fight.
