A few months ago, 16-year-old Skylar Dougherty, a student at Keyser High School, was diagnosed with Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia. She is currently undergoing treatment at WVU Children’s Hospital. During her care, doctors discovered that the leukemia had also spread to her spine, requiring multiple lumbar punctures. Sadly, one of the medications administered led to methotrexate toxicity, causing temporary facial paralysis and leaving her unable to speak. Thankfully, Skylar has since recovered from that setback, but it significantly impacted her treatment timeline and increased medical expenses.
Once she is discharged, Skylar will begin several months of outpatient chemotherapy in Morgantown, requiring daily travel Monday through Friday. All donations will go directly toward medical bills, travel costs, and meals during this challenging journey. Your support means more than words can express.
