In May of 2011 Karissa had a growth in her throat that when looked at in an MRI showed that it blocked her air way by 80% or more. She had surgery to have it removed. Although the surgery itself was not invasive, she had to have a tracheotomy in order to breath. We went for a post-op appointment with the surgeon and heard that the tumor is not benign. The doctors have identified the tumor as a Ewing Sarcoma – typically a bone cancer although this developed as a tumor. She went through 17 rounds of chemotherapy over the course of a year and radiation therapy.
No signs of Cancer for 3 years but in August of 2016, on her 4 year scan she found out they found a secondary Cancer, Thyroid Cancer. Although this is very treatable with surgery and radioactive iodine therapy, she was out of work for almost 2 months.
She has had a hard time covering most of her bills during treatment and needs a little help getting back on her feet right now. Although she is back at work she is struggling to catch up on bills that are passed due.
Anything helps!! Thank you
