Hello,
My name is Malika Wilson, mother of Daquarion Wilson. My son was born with a double outlet right ventricle, a rare congenital heart defect where the heart two main arteries, the pulmonary artery and aorta both connect to the right ventricle. Studies have shown that only 2 of 13 children survive beyond 6 months. The doctors say he’s one in a million, being that he is severely ill. However, I like to believe that my baby is one of God’s favorite. Since birth , Daquarion has had numerous surgeries to adjust his heart as a baby until he was 3 years old.
After his last surgery, he was perfectly fine. I thought things would go to normal, where my child would have a regular child life that he’s always longed for. However, the doctors informed me of more heartbreaking news. “It would only be a matter of time”, they said. Lost and confused, I kept the faith and kept praying that those words would turn around. By age 13, we found out that he was going through heart failure again. He is currently taking 8 different medications, which are implemented to keep his heart going and functioning at an almost normal rate. Daquarion was placed on the transplant waitlist but since his surgeon is leaving, his name was removed. This is causing us to relocate to another state where there are great pediatric physicians. After consulting with the financial advisor in Chicago, the estimated minimum cost is $500,000 that does not include doctor fees and visits. Right now since we aren’t Chicago residents, they are unsure how to provide assistance. I know that those zeros are a lot, but I am praying and keeping the faith that with social media help my son story reaches the heart of many to help in getting the heart transplant.
I’m a single mother of 3 kids, doing the best I can. I’ve tried every effort to do this alone but I realized I can’t. We honestly need all the help we can get. Even if you don’t have anything to give, please share in hopes that this reaches another helping hand.
Thank you for your support!! ♥️
