Help Us Save Our Mom Glenda

Our mom, Glenda, is 57 years old and has been living with a severe mental health condition—psychotic depression—for the past seven years. She has faced this illness with courage, but her mental health has worsened over time. In recent years, she has survived two suicide attempts, and now doctors have confirmed that her brain is showing early signs of dementia and premature deterioration.

It’s heartbreaking to watch the strong, loving woman who raised us slowly fade away. After a series of neurological tests, we were given a glimmer of hope: an intensive treatment involving brain neurostimulation that could help slow the progression and improve her quality of life. The treatment includes 6 sessions and a 3-week hospitalization.

The total cost is $10,000 USD, an amount we simply cannot cover on our own.

We are her two children, and like many Venezuelans, we had to leave the country due to the ongoing crisis. For years, we weren’t able to be with her. Now, one of us has finally made it back to Venezuela, and for the first time in a long time, we are with our mom. This is a unique opportunity to help her while we can be by her side. We don’t want to lose her.

Nuestra mamá, Glenda, tiene 57 años y desde hace 7 años vive con una condición mental muy compleja: depresión psicótica. Ha enfrentado esta enfermedad con valentía, pero su salud mental ha ido deteriorándose con el tiempo. En los últimos años ha tenido dos intentos de suicidio y, recientemente, los médicos confirmaron que su cerebro está mostrando signos de deterioro prematuro y señales tempranas de demencia.

Es devastador ver cómo la mujer fuerte y amorosa que nos crió se va apagando poco a poco. Después de una serie de estudios neurológicos, se nos ofreció una esperanza: un tratamiento intensivo basado en neuroestimulaciones cerebrales que puede ayudar a frenar el deterioro y mejorar su calidad de vida. El tratamiento incluye 6 sesiones y una hospitalización de 3 semanas.

El costo total es de $10,000 USD, una cantidad que no podemos cubrir por nuestra cuenta.

Somos sus dos hijos y, como muchos venezolanos, tuvimos que emigrar debido a la difícil situación del país. Durante años no tuvimos la oportunidad de estar cerca de ella. Hoy, uno de nosotros ha podido viajar de regreso a Venezuela y por primera vez en mucho tiempo estamos junto a nuestra mamá. Esta es una oportunidad única para actuar, acompañarla y brindarle la ayuda que necesita. No queremos perderla.
