Battling Leukemia
Donation protected
Dear Friends,
I continue to battle with Leukemia. My cancer relapsed early this summer and again I began my treatments at Sloan Kettering. About a 3 weeks after my first round of chemotherapy, due to my suppressed immune system,I contracted a Strep B blood infection. The infection progressed to Septic Shock and caused a chain reaction of serious health complications. I spent a month in the ICU at Stony Brook University Hospital where doctors and nurses literally saved my life. I have had to put my cancer treatments on hold until I am fully recovered. One of the complications I am experiencing is called Acute Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy ( AIDP) also known as Guillain-Barre Syndrome. This syndrome has left me with little muscle and nerve function in my arms and legs. I am currently in an acute rehabilitation center where therapists are working with me to regain my ability to walk and attend to my daily needs independently. My wife has taken a month off from both of her jobs to assist me while I am recovering. This fund me account will provide essentials and help pay for medical equipment and needs as they arise. My wife and I are so grateful for any support provided. Your love and support is so appreciated.
