Family, Friends,   colleagues...

My Mom, Mary Hopkins is in her beginning of her journey battling cancer. Mary is battling AML-(acute myeloid leukemia) .

 She will be facing a month of chemo and  a challenging road ahead.  We don't know yet all that will be needed to support treatment protocols, but we do know that she's looking at all the options available in the area, and sadly health insurance doesn't cover entirely everything.

Fighting cancer is hard enough without having to worry about medical expenses.

Please also comment here and share words of encouragement and resources.

So Probably Wondering what is AML..

AML progresses rapidly, with myeloid cells interfering with the production of normal white blood cells, red blood cells, and platelets.
Symptoms include fatigue, recurrent infections, and bruising easily.
Treatments include chemotherapy, other drug therapy, and stem-cell transplants.

This is something that has to be monitored regularly.

Its the %$%^$% C word.
The word no one else wants to hear.
The word most families won't talk about it..

But here I am, C is here and apparently its starting to kick my Mom's ass in full form.

My Mom who comes from the generation that does it all and asks for no help..
hell she is a care giver for 6 humans..

I have no idea how she does this, cleans the house daily and puts 3 from scratch meals on the table..and magically clothes are folded daily and tucked away..
From a daughters perspective...

I just want to be there for her. Anything she needs.
Not about me...

Whatever she needs, needs to do I'm there.
Out of all of this, you know what she was most worried about?
Worrying us over the big "cancer.."
I sat her down and was like "Mom let us take care of you..anything you need let us know...but time to let us pick up the slack"

She was more worried about our health, our happiness and us being sad...
Out of everything she has been through so far, and that is what she is worried about..

Suddenly more stupid stuff seems so small..
Covid in the distance...


Mom has the big C and we need to be there for her no matter what.

This one is a hard one to say.
My MOM, she is the world for so many.
And often takes nothing in return.
