Dear Family and Friends,
This Spring, I will be serving in the mountains of Honduras as part of a short-term outreach team from our church. We will be traveling March 11th -18th. I am so excited about this opportunity to serve with my brothers and sisters in Christ through our Vertical Student Ministries of LifeMission Church. We will be part of a team of approximately 40 students and leaders.
We will partner with Mercy International, a ministry that is well established and has been building relationships with the people of Honduras for 23 years. We will assist with free medical/ dental clinics and construction on homes, many for single mothers. We will also be hosting VBS for children and share the gospel by loving on the people there.
Our efforts will be focused toward serving the poor in remote villages in the mountains. The people there do not have the means to access medical and dental care. Many of their homes are made of plastic and cardboard and have dirt floors.
The clinics and construction projects will provide for the basic needs of the people. They will offer us a chance to listen and open the door to share the gospel. We will also enjoy sharing the love of Jesus through stories and activities with the children by putting on Vacation Bible Schools. It is going to be a wonderful and effective outreach.
The reason I’m writing today is to give you the opportunity to partner with me through giving. The total cost of this outreach is approximately $2250 per person. The funds raised will cover airfare, travel insurance/ground fees, and getting my passport. Unfortunately, I’ve waited until the last minute to reach out, so I’m in a bit of a crunch. I’ve put about $150 down of my own money, leaving a balance of $2100. I’m not exactly sure how, but I do have faith that God will provide a way for me to have this amazing opportunity. Would you prayerfully consider making a special donation? Please only do what God places on your heart.
There are several ways to make donations. For a tax deductible receipt, please make your check payable to LifeMission Church. Please include the statement at the end of this letter, indicating you prefer the money be applied towards my outreach expenses. Please do not write my name on the memo line or anywhere on the check. The address for the church is: 16111 S. Lone Elm Rd, Olathe, KS 66062. You may also send your donations directly to me and I can take them to the church. If you choose this option, please send me a message and I’ll provide my home address for you. Last, but not least, we’ve created a Gofundme account as a way to give. This is a great way for everyone to be able to track the progress of my fundraiser.
