Getting back on our feet

Donation protected
Hi everyone this is Anna!

As I'm sure most people know by now, our family has just had constant spells of bad luck and it has just been one thing after another.

We got a step ahead only to have to euthanize one of our dogs and have the other one get very sick and almost die 2 days later and all of our extra funds went to keeping her alive (and we are so thankful she is alive and well). After this we were living paycheck to paycheck but making due.

Right before Christmas my husband and I both contracted Covid and had to miss a week of work, luckily our daughter wasn't old enough this year to know that Santa didn't leave her any presents and everyone else understood we couldn't afford gifts. This is where we initially got behind on bills but before that we were barely making it month to month as is and relying on WIC and the food pantry to be able to eat dinner most nights (because we always made sure our 18 month old got fed we came second).

The New Year rolled around and we were hoping for better luck but so far January hasn't been so kind to us.

My birthday came around and I was hopeful that the year was off to a good start, but the day after my birthday my work got robbed at gun point for controlled substances. Thankfully myself and all my coworkers were physically okay but that took a toll on a lot of our already struggling mental health - which for me meant more doctor's appointments and more medications (aka more bills). Luckily my work is going to cover any costs of therapy needed so that will help some.

Two weeks later our entire family got hit with some sort of upper respiratory virus which took both my husband and I out of work for another week. Once we were feeling better my husband went back to work for 1 day only to get put on an 3 day unpaid suspension due to attendance. He suffers from very bad migraines (as do I) and at the time we couldn't afford his migraine preventative medication so they were more frequent than usual. Between his migraines and being sick for a week they gave him a point, even with a doctors note unfortunately.

The day after finding out he was going to be suspended from work for the week (because of the way his work schedule is) I was getting ready for work and got very dizzy and passed out. My husband was adamant I go get checked out since I hit my head and had been having some cramping in my abdomen.

After sitting in the ER for the day and having some tests ran we learned that I had appendicitis which is likely what caused my dizzy spell / fainting episode and would need to have my appendix removed on an emergency basis, I'm actually still at the hospital now recovering as I type this all out and it is very likely both my husband and I will have to miss more work while I recover with the restrictions I have.

We we're already a month behind on almost all of our bills with the bad luck and sickness we have been dealing with and to add to it I will now be getting a hospital bill from my emergency surgery. We already know our checks are going to be extremely short next pay period as well and as of today our account is in the negative once again so once we get paid it will be a matter of prioritizing getting groceries, gas, and basic necessities then paying what bills we can until next pay check.

We aren't typically the type to ask for help, we're both very stubborn and hate to admit we are struggling, but I won't lie - right now we are struggling. Our goal was to try and sell unnecessary things to help catch up on bills but it isn't working out as we hoped it would.
Having all of the added stress of if we are going to be able to pay our bills or eat isn't something I was hoping I'd have to deal with during my recovery but here we are.

If anyone is able to help, even a tiny bit, we will be so appreciative of it. If you aren't able to help if you're able to share this in hopes someone else may be able to it won't go unnoticed!

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to read this and to anyone who may be able to help!
