I can only blame myself for not being more careful...
Yesterday (Monday 6/3/19) my life came to a grinding halt when I woke up at my friends house in Philly to discover that I had accidentally left my car unlocked over night. As I've been in a moving transition, all of
my expensive music equipment was in my car, as well as priceless
personal possessions that were in my backpack.
Like a waking nightmare, my car was cleaned out completely of
anything worth any value. I have gone through the necessary processes of getting a proper police report, trying to check local pawn shops, and craigslist for any sign of what was stolen. I keep realizing more things
that were taken as time passes. So far the list includes:
- My bookbag containing my Toshiba Laptop (approx $350) , a few of
my recent sketch books, and most of my good art supplies.
- x2 1TB harddrives that had all my backups ($40 each)
- x2 KRK Rokit 5 Studio Monitors ($300 for pair)
- Traktor S2 Mixer ($300)
- 32GB Micro SD card containing 99% of all the music I've made since I
started producing 10 years ago (priceless)
- CD collection in a black zip case, containing at least 100 discs
(easily $1000+)
- 15" TCL LED TV ($200+)
- Unused sticker collection from close friends and fellow musicians
(priceless)
[Update] - My vinyl collection as well.
***My laptop, Speakers, and Mixer were all tremendously decked out in a priceless array of stickers collected over time. And all of them have a
sticker of my own Shady Monk logo somewhere on them.
...and sadly that may not even be everything. Some of these things
aren't worth crying over, as they can be replaced, while others meant
more than words can express and cannot be replaced at all. My laptop
and Hard drives contained all the projects I've been working on for
over the past year, including commissions I just recently took on and
now will not be able to complete as intended. Very little of any of my
relevant and recent projects have been backed up, and the ones that
were, had been backed up to the Hard Drives in the stolen bag.
I am taking this as a tough learning lesson for how seriously I will treat
the security of my gear and prized possessions moving forward. I feel
fully responsible for allowing myself to be so carefree and absent
minded given the value of what was in my car. I normally wouldn't ask
for things like this, but I'm not sure what to do with myself between
now and when I get back on my feet, given that all my productive
activities stemmed from everything that was taken. I know I will
bounce back from this but I could use help.
I have set the goal based on the most important items on the list above. I don't expect anything from anyone, but literally any help will count in
aiding me to get back in action sooner.
I'm so sorry to anyone being negatively effected by this, be it
collaborators, or anyone who was waiting on me for artwork, etc.
Please share this around even if you can't donate. Any and all donations will be massively appreciated and the more I get the word out maybe
by some miracle, I may see some of those stolen items safely back in my
possession.
Thank you infinitely, ShayMo
