My name is Teresa Cook. I have obtained my BFA in Painting, Drawing, Printmaking in 2012 from the University of North Florida. I have lived in Jacksonville, Florida all my life. I developed a knack for painting when I was very young and by the time I turned 15 I was working on what type of artist I wanted to be. I did not figure that out till I was a year away from graduating from UNF. One of my favorite professors at UNF, Louise Freshman-Brown, allowed me to develop my watercolors. There was no watercolor classes offered at all, so it was all on me to teach myself how to paint with watercolor. Louise was a big influence in allowing me to figure out my own aesthetic to watercolor. That was when watercolor came full force for me. I also travelled to Italy, Croatia, and Slovenia, with her help and the Helen Lane Scholarship, and that is where my watercolor style took full effect. I am forever thankful for Helen's Scholarship because her funding allowed me to be a great success in the art world today. I got an opportunity to show the Jacksonville my perception of Europe. I enjoyed traveling so much. Thus, traveling teacher/artist came up.

I want to be able to give more to him and being able to travel to Amsterdam will do that. Soon, he can embark on these travel experiences with me. I want him to develop a cultured mentality for other worldly places. Here are some of the photos of the artwork I created from my journey overseas:

There is an event, Urban Sketchers Symposium(USK), http://www.urbansketchers.org/p/usk-amsterdam-2019.html and this will be the 10th year that this event has occurred. This year one of the artist that I follow on Instagram is Paul Wang (@paulwang_sg) and he will be one of the artists' that USK is hosting. He is really a great traveling sketch artist and I want to meet him as well. I want to be apart of the demonstrations and events so I get a feel of what to expect for myself. I hope to be a future artist for workshops and travel sketching that the Urban Sketchers Symposium hosts. I want to travel to their hosted location, Amsterdam, for this year's event to get a fill for being a teacher, artist, and traveling artist through them. I know traveling here will open new doors for me in the art world.

I will need the funds by the end of February 2019, being that I hope to purchase the plane tickets and pay for the event as soon as possible.
Being able to receive this support from all of you will send me in the direction I want to go. I want to be more for son honestly. I want to have more for him. Being able to develop an audience for myself and make a platform for art lovers can get me there. I know going to Amsterdam will do it. I know I will get the opportunity to become an artist to work with Urban Sketchers Symposium, and become a teacher for them. I want to be apart of Amsterdam and understand it and eventually take my son with me.
