This page is to raise money for my lifelong, beautiful friend Moana (that’s Moana in the rose-coloured heart glasses and that's me alongside her and Moana's daughter with her in the middle photo).

For Moana, there’s always an upside. If there’s a silver lining – she’ll find it for you, and she’ll make you laugh along the way even when you think things are getting bleak.

Now I’m asking you all to be part of creating that silver lining for Moana.

Moana has TNBC or triple-negative breast cancer. It’s an aggressive cancer that does not have a good prognosis without treatment. Surgery is not possible and Moana’s best hope is to go to an integrative oncology clinic as soon as possible.

For this she needs money — $60 K for a 6-week treatment, $4-6 K for accommodation, then there’s the travel, the rent while away — the costs mount up as anyone who has been on this journey knows only too well.

This has all happened pretty quickly and at present there is hope, but we need to get Moana to the clinic before the cancer spreads further.

I’ve promised my support for this journey. I’ll be there with Moana, as she’s been there for me —through thick and thin.

For someone who has worked tirelessly as a social worker to help others, and supported others on similar journeys, Moana has been reluctant to ask for help. We are hoping that through this page Moana can receive the treatment she needs in time.

There are lots of things I could say to invite your support. It’s simple though — a life-threatening cancer diagnosis, an overseas clinic that offers targeted integrative treatment, financial constraints which mean no money = no treatment, and a vibrant woman far too young to not be here to see her daughter’s children.

Your choice to donate whatever you can to support Moana is a choice for life and a gift of love for her and her family.
