Bruce and Laura Campbell share a very unique love/life story. Bruce, a flight attendant for Southwest airlines met Laura , a passenger on a flight 20 years ago. Bruce told his crewmembers he was going to marry Laura. Two months later, they did just that! Laura went to work for Southwest and they had three children, Brooke, Mackenna and Logan. About 5 years ago after a hiking trip, Laura began to feel a twitching and weakness in her left leg. Doctors could not accurately diagnose her condition. She had a bad cold that she could not kick. After 8 months of repeated doctor visits and testing, Laura was diagnosed with ALS, more commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease. I had a grandfather who suffered and died from ALS so I was very aware of the road this sweet family would travel. It is a path of continuing muscle weakness and deterioration. There is no cause, no cure, no specific treatment for ALS. At this point Laura requires 24 -hour professional home health care. Bruce flies as much as he feels he can without compromising the well being of his family, but despite insurance benefits and the help of friends, the costs are overwhelming.
I am asking you to help this wonderful family. They are a very loving, hard-working family who needs your help. Bruce has explored every avenue for assistance social services has given him, but because he is able and willing to work he does not qualify. In my heart this family more than qualifies. Thank you!
