Help Us Finish Our Shelter and Save More Lives
We run a dog shelter for stray rescues in Tijuana, Mexico, where so many animals are in desperate need of help. Right now, the conditions at our shelter are far from what these innocent souls deserve, and we urgently need your support to provide them with a safe, healthy, and warm place to live.
Currently, 34 rescued dogs call our shelter home, and we’re preparing to welcome 11 more this December from another location. But with winter approaching, we face a serious crisis. Flooding and freezing temperatures will put these dogs at extreme risk. We also need to complete fencing for their protection, ensuring they remain safe and secure.
We can’t do this alone, but together, we can change their lives.
Your donation, no matter the amount, will go directly toward:
• Completing the shelter to protect them from the cold and rain
• Building the necessary fencing to keep them safe
• Ensuring a healthy and hygienic environment for their well-being
Every dollar makes a difference. If 100 people gave just $20, it could mean the difference between life and death for these animals this winter.
Please join us in giving these dogs a second chance at life. They’ve already endured so much, but with your help, they can finally know safety, warmth, and love.
Together, we can create a shelter they deserve. Will you help us today?
Thank you for being their hero.
From streets to safety, rescue shelter needs you!

The Happy Shelter Project: A Proposal for Improving Shelter Facilities.
Tijuana, Mexico – Established 2022
Project Summary
The Happy Shelter has been a safe haven for homeless and abandoned dogs in Tijuana since 2022. After eight years at a previous location, we relocated and began the challenging work of building our new shelter from the ground up. The shelter currently houses 34 dogs, all of whom are cared for with the utmost love and attention possible, while awaiting their forever homes. Our goal is to create a clean, safe, healthy and welcoming environment for our dogs, and we are seeking support to improve our facilities and infrastructure.
Mission Statement
Our mission is to provide a loving, comfortable, and secure space for dogs in need while working to find them permanent homes. The Happy Shelter is more than just a temporary stop—it is a sanctuary where every dog can thrive until they meet their future family.
Current Challenges
Since moving to our new location in 2022, we have made significant progress, including leveling the land and securing essential services such as running water, which was only recently installed. However, much work remains to ensure the shelter meets its full potential. Currently, our main challenges are:
1. Kennel Infrastructure: Six out of our seven kennels require concrete platforms to prevent flooding during the rainy season. Without these, our dogs will be exposed to unsafe and unsanitary conditions.
2. Sanitation & Cleanliness: We need to lay additional concrete throughout the shelter to improve hygiene and ensure a clean, healthy environment for the dogs.
3. Waste Management: The shelter requires a dumpster for proper waste disposal. Without it, we risk building up trash, which could cause health concerns and strain relations with neighbors.
4. Comfort & Aesthetic Improvements: More grassy areas and shade are needed to provide a more comfortable and pleasant and safe environment for the dogs.
5. Storage & Security: A wooden shed is essential to securely store food, medicine, and tools, keeping them safe from theft and the elements.
Project Objectives
To address the current challenges, we have identified several key projects that will transform the shelter into a fully equipped and comfortable space for the dogs:
1. Concrete Platforms for Kennels: We need to complete concrete platforms in six kennels at a cost of approximately $275 per kennel, for a total of $1,750.. This will protect our dogs from the dangers of standing water and poor weather conditions.
2. Additional Concrete Work: Laying concrete in high-traffic areas of the shelter will help keep the space clean and easy to maintain. The estimated cost for this project is $1250
3. Dumpster Construction: To maintain cleanliness and improve waste management, we need a dumpster that can be accessed by trash collection services. The construction of the dumpster will cost $550.
4. Fencing Improvements: Security is a top priority. We need to reinforce and secure our fencing to ensure that the shelter remains safe. The total cost for additional fencing is $600.
5. Grass and Trees Installation: Adding grass to more areas of the shelter will provide comfort and a natural environment for our dogs. The estimated cost is $400.
6. Shed for Supplies: We need to build a wooden shed to securely store food, medicine, and tools. The shed will cost approximately $550.
7. Shade Trees: Planting trees in the main area will provide necessary shade, helping to keep the dogs cool and comfortable, especially during the hotter months. The cost of this project is included in the Grass and Trees estimate.
Total Project Costs
The estimated total cost for all improvements is as follows:
• Concrete Platforms for Kennels: $1,750
• Additional Concrete Work: $800
• Dumpster: $550
• Fencing: $600
• Grass Installation: $400
• Storage Shed: $650
• Total Estimated Cost: $4,750
Long-Term Impact
The Happy Shelter is a long-term project, focused on housing dogs in a safe and happy environment until they find their forever homes. These upgrades will not only improve the immediate living conditions for the 34 dogs currently in our care but will also allow us to take in more dogs in the future, ensuring that we can continue to rescue and rehabilitate those in need.
Improving our facilities is a crucial step in maintaining the health, safety, and happiness of our animals. By investing in the infrastructure now, we will be able to provide even better care in the years to come, increasing the likelihood of finding permanent homes for each dog.
Call to Action
We are asking for your support to help make The Happy Shelter a better place for our dogs. Every contribution, no matter the size, will bring us closer to completing these essential projects and providing a safe, healthy, and happy environment for the animals in our care. With your help, we can continue to give these dogs the best possible chance at finding their forever families.
Thank you for your generosity and for being a part of The Happy Shelter Project.
