Marathon fundraiser for A HEAD with HARMONY
Donation protected
FutureNeuro, the SFI Research Centre for chronic and rare neurological disease, is thrilled to extend a warm invitation for you to join us in celebrating the Dublin Marathon! Get ready for an unforgettable experience where we come together to celebrate health, resilience, and the pursuit of a brighter future. Lace up your shoes and join us for a day filled with excitement, camaraderie, and the shared passion for making a difference in the realm of neurological health!
We are delighted that Amy Holtby is running the Dublin marathon on Oct 29th to raise funds to support the FutureNeuro Centre. All monies raised will contribute to the creation of a short illustrated book for children with neurological conditions and their siblings – a fundraising initiative started by “A Head with Harmony” recital. Being diagnosed with a neurological condition can mean multiple visits to hospital. The young child and their family will meet many different people on their journey to diagnosis and treatment - neurologists, geneticists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nurses and porters. This time can be very confusing for the child and their siblings. This book is planned to explain all the different roles in a child-friendly way. It will be developed in partnership with clinicians, our Public and Patient Involvement (PPI) Panel and the children themselves.
In Amy’s words “Taking on a marathon requires some commitment and dedication to training (especially with the questionable ‘summer’ weather we’ve had in Ireland this year!!) but this is nothing compared to the dedication that is required by the International network of scientists working with FutureNeuro. The approach FutureNeuro take to their research programme involving patients in all stages of research means so much to patients and those involved with their care.
I hope you can join me in supporting this worthy cause, no matter how small the donation I know it will have a real impact. This impact is the key reason why I chose FutureNeuro as my charity partner for this race. It will be a privilege and an honour to run for them on October 29th!”
