We are sending out this urgent appeal to save the life of Tsepri Lopan Ngawang Chokdup Rinpoche, a 39 year old Tibetan Buddhist monk and an extraordinary community leader living in Kathmandu, Nepal.

 

Rinpoche is the elected head of the Tibetan Refugee Community Office of Boudha, Kathmandu (also known as Choejor Lekhung). In early 2020, Rinpoche was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease in both of his kidneys. His condition has now become life-threatening, and he will not survive without transplant surgery.

 

Early on, Rinpoche managed with medication while he attended to his many duties. But when COVID struck in Kathmandu, Rinpoche threw himself into helping his community deal with the tragedies and hardships brought on by the pandemic.

 

Rinpoche spent long days and nights tirelessly serving those experiencing illness, loss of income, and the death of loved ones. His health deteriorated rapidly. He lost considerable weight. Growing weaker by the day, Rinpoche was hospitalized and had to be on dialysis many times a week.

 

Today, Rinpoche’s condition is imminently life-threatening. His doctors have told him that immediate kidney transplant is the only option if he is to survive.

 

We are desperately searching for matching donors. But this will not be enough. We must immediately raise $60,000 USD for the transplant and post surgery costs.

 

This is an earnest and desperate appeal to each one of you to help save the life of a compassionate individual who gave everything to save the lives of others and now needs our help to save him.
