Christopher's Heart Transplant Journey
Hello,
We have been struggling with how best to convey the trauma Christopher has gone through and the toll it has taken on his family.
Chris has been in the hospital since the day after Thanksgiving. He went in with chest tightness, and we all assumed it was COVID. The family received the shocking news that at 38 years old, he was in heart failure and would need a new heart to survive. He has been in the hospital ever since and contracted COVID, making his prognosis even more critical. Thankfully our prayers were answered, Chris received a heart transplant on January 26. We will forever be grateful to the donor and their family for the selfless act of organ donation. The road has not been easy as to complicate matters further, other parts of Chris’ body were also damaged due to the heart condition. These complications are new to us and we have been advised we will need to wait to ensure all goes well with his transplant before addressing the new issues.
Before this illness, Chris had taken the responsibility of being the sole provider for his family, as
Christine is home caring for their children and dealing with numerous autoimmune diseases that make working impossible. There is no timeline as to when Chris will come home and no indication of when he can work again.
Chrissie has been driving back and forth to the hospital daily while the family helps care for their two beautiful boys (Charlie-23 months and Patrick-3). Unfortunately, medical expenses are mounting and monetary support is needed.
If you could support my GoFundMe by donating and sharing it with your network, we would greatly appreciate it. We know that money can be tight, so please know that even $5 helps us get closer to our goal!
Let us know if you have any questions, and we will be happy to answer them. We will provide
updates as they become available.
Please keep Chris in your thoughts and prayers.
