I just recently started going through the process of being evaluated to be put on the transplant list for a new kidney. I started to lose function of my kidneys at only 14 years old after a strep infection that attacked my kidneys, due to having no tonsils. I contracted acute Glomerulonephritis, and had to have chemotherapy to stop the damage. I lived for over 40 years with 20% usage of my kidneys, until eventually I ended up in stage five kidney failure and started peritoneal dialysis four years ago.
As with most medical procedures there are a lot of tests that need to be completed just to be considered to be placed on the transplant list. Once on the list there will be constant testing and lab work done to make sure I am healthy enough to receive a new kidney. With those tests and all of the lab work comes co-pays. Add that to the hundreds of dollars out of pocket monthly for prescription medications and the equipment necessary to complete my dialysis daily and that adds up to way more than I am even hoping to get through this go fund me. Trust me, this is a last resort.
Thank you to anyone who reads this and is able to donate, even the slightest bit can add up quickly! For those who are unable to donate we ask that you please keep our family in your thoughts while we go through this process together.
