Trying to see Charlie

Hello, my name is Jim Stack.
I had a stroke at the end of January; next week will be 7 months. I have not been able to work since. I was not able to speak or write at first. My writing is getting better but my speech is lagging behind. I hate that I have gotten to the point that I have to ask for help, but here I am. I won’t bother going into all the details and frustration dealing with Social Security Disability, anyone who has dealt with government agencies is well aware. The first time they told me that I should get a decision within a couple of weeks was in May. Today I got through to them and they said a decision had been made on Monday but my case was randomly selected by their computer for review by their Quality Assurance Department. They couldn’t even tell me if it was favorable or not until it comes back from Quality Assurance, but that should only be a couple weeks.
I have not had any money coming in since January; I have used all of my savings including my 401K from Lowe’s. My kids have already helped me more than I like, my son and daughter-in-law are expecting my first grandson next month and my son has been dealing with his own health issues. My daughter works full time as a teacher and also a full time student working on 2 masters’ degrees at Columbia.
Right now I am barely able to make a coherent plan, I am just trying to hold on until my grandson, Charlie, is born. Then if I don’t hear from Social Security, or they deny my claim then I’ll load my dogs and a tent in the car and try to make as far south as I can for the winter. I really have no idea how much money I need, best case scenario if I hear back from Social Security with a favorable ruling and in a timely manner, then a few hundred dollars will tide me over. Worst case scenario? I’m screwed and I’m having a hard time even figuring it out. Lastly, to those friends that have known I’ve been struggling and have given me support and help without being asked I cannot begin to tell you how much I appreciate it and I don’t want to find out you’re donating, you already have done more than you should.
Thank you for any help, it will be appreciated more than I can express!
