College In Cali

Hey ya'll
I’m going to college. Finally. Again. Finally. Anybody who knows me knows that I’ve had a pretty tough time doing that. I’ve tried three whole times in the past four years since graduating high school. The first time was because of a lack of information, second time there was a lack of focus, and the third time there was a lack of patience. BUT this is the real deal. Like forreal forreal this time. The college is called the Pacific Conservatory of Performing Arts, you have to say the whole name because PCPA just doesn’t have that razzley dazzle effect. Set in Southern California, PCPA is more than a school. It’s a professional conservatory theater that puts on marvelously executed productions where the pros work right alongside students attending their conservatory. Their focuses lie both on and offstage as they have a technical and an acting intensive program, both lasting two years. I’ll be going for the acting intensive. I was lucky enough to be selected along with 29 other actors and actresses out of the hundreds that had auditioned.

To go to school for acting has been my dream for awhile now. Probably since I was a sophomore or junior in high school. That was when I finally realized that performing was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Going into my junior year of high school, I attended the New York State Summer School of The Arts for acting  and it completely changed my life and outlook on what it means to put your all into something you love. There I realized that performing and storytelling was about more than just going on stage on spouting lines. I learned that I love the creative process. The time that you put towards creating a character and realizing what their part is in the story that’s being told. The hours upon hours of molding an entirely different person out of yourself and what you have to offer to the world. The connections that you make with other people who are going through the exact same process as you. If I hadn’t attended that program and spent those 3 and a half weeks with the amazing people that were with me, I probably wouldn’t have had any purpose. It gave me a maturity that some people my age still don’t have. So to be able to go to a similar program for much longer and in a completely different state just gets me so excited and hopeful to see what the future is going to bring. If you’re able to send any amount of money to support this journey I will love you for forever.
